I then put this card back in the Pi expecting that it would not boot. I asked it to create a file that big using your program. This apparent inconsistency is part of the joys of life I suppose! However, you can adapt the guide to suit the software tools you already have or prefer. Both are free of charge and have been tested to unzip the image correctly. I've had to upgrade some of my projects to a fresh raspbian stretch install and wether its the zero w, 3, or 3B+ ive had to make sure to include the country or else it wont connect. Also insure your passphrase is at least 8 characters long. Headless wifi start is not broken in Stretch 2017-09-07. I tried that too and it didn't work either. I also think rfkill has something to do with country code, as I think I saw the same message in dmesg when trying to restore it.

I was not able to enable ssh by putting the file into the boot folder, and yes it was created without extension from a Windows 7 machine and gets deleted after boot.

I didn't make any changes to the start of the partition either. File the file called cmdline. Note that links are affiliate. Thus we swap the dummy connection details with real Wi-Fi credentials. I just had a similar problem getting my Wi-Fi to work on a completely fresh new Raspbian Stretch Lite install on a Pi Zero W. I wonder if I can rescue this image by making changes to the cmdline. Choose Raspbian Stretch Lite if you only need to boot to the command line.

Thanks very good guide, … all somekind of useless at the end. I've had a lot of other network checking with the new version. If you do not know the subnet of where you are plugging into, plugin a spare laptop and figure out the subnet. It would probably be okay for a model A or B as well although it would bypass the power protection , but a Pi2 or Pi3 should have its own power supply and only the 3 connections listed above. Are you sure that this methode work for the lastest version? If your computer does not come with a , you have to get one.
